Sports have been a part of Karla’s life for decades- from playing fast pitch softball on a nationally ranked team in high school, playing basketball at Texas Woman’s University and now as a physical therapist for local athletes. Her desire to become a Physical Therapist came after watching a team mate in college suffer a career ending knee injury. Wanting a career more people oriented, she changed her major from engineering to physical therapy. Karla graduated from Texas Woman’s University in 1990 with a Master’s degree in Physical Therapy before heading west to Seattle.
Karla is a shoulder specialist but her talents and interest aren’t limited there. She also enjoys treating general orthopedics, and has extensive experience in Sports Medicine and post operative rehabilitation. Karla served as the team physical therapist and head athletic trainer for the Seattle Sounders women’s soccer team in 2007 and 2008. She also served as the team physical therapist for the Seattle Wolves Men’s PDL team in 2007, 2008 and 2009. Her expertise sees no age, and for her entire career Karla has utilized her passion for sports medicine by working with local collegiate and high school athletes.
Karla’s interests span the outdoors all year round. She loves anything snow related, scuba diving, hunting, fishing and spending time with family. She had a long career in competitive basketball and softball, but these days, Karla volunteers her time and know how to coaches and athletes at local clubs and high schools, teaching injury prevention.
